PAYDAY: Crime War delivers a first-person multiplayer shooter where every match forces a binary choice. You join either the heisters or the police. The objective splits cleanly: criminals crack a vault, law enforcement stops them. No single-player campaign. No cooperative mode against bots. Pure asymmetric PvP with two distinct win conditions per round.

Core Gameplay Mechanics

The control scheme uses a dual-stick layout optimized for touchscreens. The left virtual joystick handles character movement. The right side contains the fire button, aim assist toggle, and contextual action prompts. Jump, reload, and grenade throw buttons sit in fixed positions on the right edge. Sensitivity sliders let you adjust horizontal and vertical aiming speed independently. Gyroscopic aiming is available as an optional input method for devices with motion sensors.

Each match runs on a timer. Heisters must locate the vault, drill through the lock, grab the loot, and extract through designated escape points. Police must eliminate all heisters or prevent extraction until time expires. Respawning is limited. Heisters get three revive opportunities per round. Police respawn infinitely but with a cooldown penalty after each death.

Character and Loadout System

The roster includes 12 playable characters split evenly between criminals and law enforcement. Each character has a unique passive ability and a special equipment item. For example, Dallas carries a medic bag that heals nearby teammates. Chains has a breaching charge that speeds up vault drilling. On the police side, Cloaker uses a shock trap that immobilizes heisters. Captain Winters deploys a deployable shield for area denial.

Progression unlocks new items through a level-based system. Each character levels independently. The armory also contains throwable items: flashbangs, smoke grenades, frag grenades, and concussive devices. Heisters can equip two throwables. Police get one utility slot plus a primary weapon.

Technical Specifications and Graphics

The graphics engine supports three quality presets: Low, Medium, and High. Low preset disables shadows, reduces texture resolution to 512x512, and caps frame rate at 30 FPS. Medium enables dynamic shadows, 1024x1024 textures, and 60 FPS target. High preset adds ambient occlusion, volumetric lighting, and anisotropic filtering. The game automatically detects device capabilities on first launch and recommends a preset.

The game operates on a free-to-play model. In-app purchases include premium currency (Gold Bars), exclusive mask patterns, and weapon skin bundles. Gold Bars can purchase cosmetic items only.
