Evostar is a deep, narrative-driven role-playing game where you command a squad of genetically modified survivors—called the Evolved. Each Evolved carries a unique genetic signature that determines their combat role, resource efficiency, and diplomatic standing. The core loop revolves around scavenging derelict star-ships, managing a mobile base called the Ark-Heart, and engaging in turn-based tactical combat against rogue AI-controlled factions.

The combat system is grid-based, with a focus on positioning and environmental hazards. Every weapon, from a plasma carbine to a rusted mining laser, has a distinct firing arc and damage profile. You can manually override your Evolved's AI routines mid-battle, allowing for micro-managed flanking maneuvers or coordinated area-of-effect attacks. The game's "Overdrive" system lets you spend accumulated energy to boost a unit's stats for three turns, but at the cost of permanent genetic degradation if used too frequently.
