About app FÆrchiver
The Archiver That Keeps Your Data Under Your Control
You’ve just downloaded a critical app backup, but the file is a cryptic .7z.001 split archive. Most file managers will choke on it. FÆrchiver doesn’t. This is a no-nonsense archive manager built for Android users who need to handle compressed files, manage app backups, and open obscure formats—all without ever connecting to the internet. Developed by Toxic Dee Modder, version 4.4.6 delivers a clean, functional interface focused on pure utility.
Core Archiving Capabilities
FÆrchiver provides a complete set of compression and decompression tools. You can create archives in seven formats: 7z (7zip), zip, bzip2 (bz2), gzip (gz), XZ, lz4, tar, and zst (zstd). Decompression support is far broader, covering over 30 formats including the most common and many legacy types: 7z, zip, rar (including rar5), bzip2, gzip, XZ, iso, tar, arj, cab, lzh, lha, lzma, xar, tgz, tbz, Z, deb, rpm, zipx, mtz, chm, dmg, cpio, cramfs, img (fat, ntfs, ubf), wim, ecm, lzip, zst (zstd), egg, and alz. You can also view the contents of any supported archive without extracting it first.
Advanced Archive Management
The app goes beyond simple packing and unpacking. You can create and extract password-protected archives, adding a layer of security to sensitive backups. Editing archives directly is supported for zip, 7zip, tar, apk, and mtz files—add or delete individual items without rebuilding the entire archive. Multivolume archives (split into parts) are fully supported: create them in 7z format, and extract from 7z and rar split archives. Partial extraction lets you pull only specific files from large archives, saving time and storage space.
App Backup and Installation Features
FÆrchiver integrates directly with Android’s app management system. You can install APK files from within a backup archive, and also deploy OBB expansion files stored alongside the APK. This eliminates the need to extract the entire backup to a temporary folder before installation. The app can open compressed files directly from email attachments, and it handles compound archives—those with numbered parts like .7z.001, .zip.001, part1.rar, or .z01—by automatically reassembling them during extraction.
Technical Specifications and Optimizations
The app is engineered for performance and compatibility. It supports Android 9 and above, with direct opening of files smaller than 10 MB without extracting them to a temp directory—this reduces I/O overhead and speeds up access. Multithreading is enabled, taking advantage of multi-core processors to accelerate compression and decompression tasks. Full UTF-8 and UTF-16 support for filenames ensures that national characters and special symbols in file names are preserved correctly, preventing encoding-related errors.
Privacy and Permissions
FÆrchiver requires no internet access permission. It operates entirely offline, meaning no data—not even metadata about the files you process—can be transmitted to any external service or third party. This makes it suitable for handling sensitive backups where privacy is paramount.
